Mario Andrésol and Ambassador of Brazil discuss strengthening FADH

Port-au-Prince, July 1, 2026.- The Minister of Defence, Mario Andrésol, met on Wednesday, July 1, with the Ambassador of Brazil to Haiti, Luís Guilherme Nascentes da Silva. Both officials referred to the strengthening of bilateral cooperation in the fields of defence, security and capacity development of the Armed Forces of Haiti, including through training, logistical support and sharing of Brazilian expertise.

The Haitian Government continues its efforts to strengthen international cooperation in the field of defence. To this end, the Minister of Defence, Mario Andrésol, received this Wednesday, July 1, the Ambassador of Brazil to Haiti, Luís Guilherme Nascentes da Silva, for a working session dedicated to strengthening cooperation between the two countries.

Exchanges focused on the establishment of a strategic partnership to enable Brazil to share its experience in securing complex urban areas. Discussions included territorial control, community intelligence and coordination between the armed forces and the police.

Both sides also discussed the prospects for cooperation in the areas of military training, logistical support and tactical leadership, in order to contribute to the development of the operational capabilities of the Armed Forces of Haiti, taking into account the security realities of the country.

This meeting takes place a few days away from the participation of Minister Mario Andrésol in the 17th Conference of Ministers of Defense of the Americas, scheduled for July 7-10 in Peru. On the sidelines of this conference, the Minister plans a bilateral meeting with his Brazilian counterpart to continue discussions on strengthening cooperation in defence, training and institutional capacity development.
