Port-au-Prince, July 1, 2026.- On the occasion of Canada's National Day, Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé reaffirmed the importance of relations between Haiti and Canada. At a ceremony at the Canadian Ambassador's Residence, he welcomed a partnership based on cooperation in security, democratic governance and development.
Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé took part, this Wednesday, July 1, in the official ceremony organized at the residence of the Canadian Ambassador to Haiti on the occasion of Canada's National Day.
The celebration also marked the end of the mission of André François Giroux, in the presence of members of the diplomatic corps, representatives of international organizations as well as several Haitian and foreign personalities.
In his speech, the Ambassador renewed Canada's commitment to support Haiti in the areas of security, democratic governance and the strengthening of the rule of law, while emphasizing the strength of relations between the two countries.
On behalf of the Haitian government, the Prime Minister congratulated the Canadian government and people on their national holiday. He stressed that partnership between the two States remains a pillar of Haiti's stabilization, institutional strengthening and development efforts.
The Head of Government also expressed gratitude for Canada's continued support for national priorities and reaffirmed the Haitian authorities' commitment to consolidate this strategic cooperation in a spirit of trust, mutual respect and shared responsibility.
