Leslie Voltaire advocates a Haitian solution based on courage, dialogue and sovereignty

Port-au-Prince, January 31, 2026.- Councillor-President Leslie Voltaire delivered on social network X, Friday, January 30, 2026, a message on the current situation of the country, calling for a collective break to preserve freedom, sovereignty and national dignity.

Speaking on the basis of the experience of age and the weight of Haitian history, Councillor-President Leslie Voltaire believes that the collapse of a nation results not only from external aggression, but above all from the loss of civic courage, when fear is imposed as a mode of governance and survival.

Affirming its commitment to future generations, Leslie Voltaire says she assumes the responsibility of transmitting to youth a Haiti based on justice, real security and equality of opportunity. He stressed the need to guarantee young people a decent living environment, faithful to the legacy bequeathed by Jean-Jacques Dessalines.

Presenting himself as an actor in dialogue, he reaffirms his faith in consultation and consensus as essential levers to heal the wounds of the nation. The Adviser-President ensures continued interaction with all political forces in order to bring together views and protect the fundamental interests of the country.

Referring to the debates related to the possible loss of his visa, he minimizes this episode, stressing that this type of personal measure has no impact on his determination. In his view, the only truly disturbing prospect would be to see Haiti lose its freedom, sovereignty and ability to assert its dignity on the international stage.

Finally, Leslie Voltaire calls for collective responsibility in view of 7 February, inviting national actors to make the choice of a Haitian solution to the crisis. He calls for the opening of a process leading to genuine democratic elections and urges the Haitian people to demonstrate to the world that the dignity of a nation can withstand all forms of pressure and interference.
