A security operation carried out by law enforcement agencies in the Bas de Bel Air neighbourhood, particularly in the areas of Tiremasse and Traversière, has resulted in the seizure of several military and administrative equipment during the past week. This intervention is part of the overall strategy to contain armed violence and strengthen the security of the population in the sensitive neighbourhoods of Port-au-Prince.
According to police authorities, the officers seized two weapons of war, one M14 type rifle and one 12 calibre rifle, as well as a box of ammunition, three loaders and a long view. The police have also discovered a passport and a uniform, the origin and use of which remain unknown for the time being.
The seized material was sealed and analysed to identify its owners, origin and use. The security forces believe that this operation represents progress in the fight against armed groups and reaffirm their commitment to continue efforts to secure peace in the affected areas.
