Jacmel Valley, February 2, 2026.- The Town Hall of the Jacmel Valley (South-East Department) organized, on Sunday, February 1, 2026, the 8th edition of its public hearing around the theme « Transparency, accountability, participation and inclusion: foundations of good governance « an accountability exercise to inform the population about municipal management and the development prospects of the municipality.
Held at the premises of the Sisters of Ridoré, the activity brought together local authorities, notables, students, schoolchildren, representatives of civil society organizations and citizens from the city centre and the communal sections. In her opening remarks, Mayor Marie Yolaine Philippeaux, President of the City Council, praised citizen mobilization and stressed the need to build trust between local elected representatives and the public through regular accountability mechanisms.
On this occasion, the town hall presented the narrative and financial report of the financial year 2024-2025, highlighting the activities carried out and the challenges encountered. Out of an estimated budget of 31,358,723.17 gourdes, the municipality was able to collect 14,761,596.65 gourdes and incur expenditure amounting to 10,942,846 gourdes, reflecting the structural constraints faced by local and regional authorities.
For the 2025-2026 financial year, the estimated budget is 44,937,605.65 gourdes, with the aim of consolidating municipal actions and promoting more inclusive and participatory governance. Through this public hearing, the Town Hall of La Vallée de Jacmel intends to reaffirm its commitment to transparency and responsible management of public resources.
