La Fabrique des arts : Michèle Lemoine unveils the ambition of a cultural pole anchored in the South

Port-au-Prince, February 22, 2026.- Invited this Sunday, February 22, on Magik 9, Michèle Lemoine, director of « The Art Factory « presented the main directions of this new cultural federation launched by the Knowledge and Freedom Foundation (FOKAL) and its partners. Located in Les Cayes, in the South of Haiti, the institution brings together five major structures and aims to become a structural space dedicated to creation, training and living together.

At Magik 9 microphone, Michèle Lemoine defended the vision of a long-term project to strengthen the Haitian cultural fabric. « The Art Factory is not only a physical place, it is a collective dynamic « she stressed, stressing the need to pool resources and create synergies between cultural institutions.

The federation brings together five entities: the Knowledge and Freedom Foundation (FOKAL), the Art Center, the Association Quatre Chemins, ILO-Haiti and the Thames Association. Together, they intend to structure a network of cultural actors through calls for projects and artistic residences.

Located in Les Cayes, La Fabrique is a modular scene dedicated to living arts. According to its director, the choice of the South responds to a desire for cultural decentralization and creation of opportunities outside Port-au-Prince. « We want to offer artists a space to repeat, train, create and present their works in dignified conditions. « , she said.

In a context marked by insecurity and the weakening of cultural spaces, Michèle Lemoine believes that the Art Factory represents « a place of hope, inclusion and dialogue « . She also recalled that the project is part of a sustainable vision, supported in particular by international partners such as the French Development Agency.

Through this federation, the initiators aim to consolidate the Haitian cultural sector, promoting the formation, transmission and emergence of new generations of artists.
