The 2026 World Cup continues to beat records. FIFA announced that 4,644,549 spectators attended the 72 events in the United States, Canada and Mexico. With an average of 64,508 fans per game and a 99.7% filling rate, this edition already surpasses the previous record set at the 1994 World Championship in the United States, which had welcomed nearly 3.6 million spectators throughout the tournament.
The governing body of world football states that eight meetings crossed the 80,000 spectators mark, while 25 June became the most frequent day in World Cup history with 426,834 people present in the stadiums.
FIFA also points out that the Portugal–Colombia and Mexico–South Korea posters are among the most popular matches for fans, as is the final scheduled for July 19. The largest ticket buyers come from the United States, Canada, Mexico, England, Germany, Colombia, Brazil, Argentina, Australia and France, confirming the worldwide popularity of this edition.
