Amendments to the electoral decree could be made next week, according to information reported by Radio Metronome. This eventuality follows a meeting held on the evening of September 11 between the Government and the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP), covering several aspects of the electoral process.
According to a source close to the Primature, several provisions of the Decree could be reviewed in the Council of Ministers. Discussions included the conditions for the registration of candidates and the amounts required to participate in elections. For the President, the amount could be reduced from 2 million to 1 million gourdes.
The date of 13 December 2026, chosen for the first round, is also uncertain. According to the same source, the deadline, the registration of candidates and other parts of the electoral process could be reassessed. These possible changes could occur as the electoral calendar continues to raise questions within the Haitian political class.
