Cap-Haitien, February 24, 2026.- The police authorities arrested and seized large numbers of firearms in the context of a vast offensive against organized crime. Named « Goudougoudou « , the operation is conducted by the National Police of Haiti (PNH) through the Central Directorate of the Judicial Police (DCPJ), with the aim of dismantling criminal networks active in the territory.
On 23 February, a targeted intervention was carried out in Cap-Haitien. The police have arrested an individual identified as Yves Leroy, suspected of illegal possession of firearms, reports the Police Communications Directorate (DICOP). The operation mobilized several specialized units, including the Anti-Trafficking Bureau of Narcotics (BLTS), the Research and Intervention Brigade (BRI) and the Vehicle Theft Brigade (BLVV).
The search, carried out in the presence of Judge Brunvert Jacky Jean, resulted in the discovery of two firearms, three loaders and two boxes of 9 mm and 380 calibre ammunition. The objects were seized and sealed.
The investigators also seized three bank booklets, one passport and three vehicle keys. These elements, now integrated into the file, could inform the ongoing investigation.
The HNP reports that it is continuing its investigations in order to establish possible links between the suspect and transnational criminal networks, while reaffirming its determination to strengthen security in the country.
