Scholarships, Heritage and Health: IILA wants to expand its partnership with Haiti

The Secretary General of the Italian-Latin American International Organization (IILA), Giorgio Silli, made an official visit to Haiti on Tuesday, July 21, 2026. During his stay, he met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Religious Affairs, Raina Forbin, the Minister of National Education and Vocational Training, Vijonet Déméro, as well as with the Rector of the State University of Haiti (UEH), Dieuseul Predelus.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, these different meetings allowed us to explore several areas of cooperation between Haiti and IILA. The exchanges focused on strengthening academic mobility, increasing the number of scholarships offered to Haitian students and developing new university partnerships.

Discussions also focused on the implementation of joint programmes in strategic areas. Among the priorities mentioned are the preservation of cultural heritage, the promotion of fashion as a lever for cultural development and the strengthening of cooperation in the field of public health.
