Pétion-ville, 29 May 2026.- On 26 May, the Ministry of the Environment (MdE) closed a six-day training course on waste recovery for women, young people and residents of displaced persons camps in Petion-Ville, Delmas and surrounding areas. Organized with the support of the Global Alliance Against Climate Change (GCAC+) and the technical support of the Tebo Workshops Cultural Centre, this initiative aims to promote sustainable waste management, social inclusion and income-generating activities.
Organized from May 20 to 26 at the Methodist College of Brothers, this training allowed participants to acquire practical skills in the transformation of solid waste into utility and artistic objects. Through this approach, the Ministry of Environment intends to build community capacity while promoting a green economy focused on environmental and social resilience.
At the closing ceremony, the heads of the Cultural Centre The Tebo Workshops welcomed the commitment of the government led by Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé and that of the Minister of the Environment, Valéry Fils-Aimé, to community initiatives and the empowerment of vulnerable groups.
Encouraging the beneficiaries to continue their actions in their respective communities, Mr. Remarais invited them to become focal points for environmental awareness and commitment.
Very satisfied with the quality of the training, several participants expressed their willingness to apply the knowledge gained in order to contribute actively to better waste management and environmental protection.
