Port-au-Prince, May 25, 2026.- In a room worn by applause, words and emotion, young Kimmie José won the finale of Eloquetia Port-au-Prince on Saturday, May 23. At 23, the civil engineering student becomes the new Haitian face of the oratory art on the international stage.

Under the spotlight of the Marie-Dominique Mazzarello auditorium in Delmas 95, four finalists tried to convince the jury about issues related to the future of humanity and technological change. For several hours, arguments, eloquence and stage mastery were confronted in front of a large audience who came to attend this second edition of Eloquencia Port-au-Prince. By the strength of his speech and his ease in defending his ideas, Kimmie José ended up imposing himself against the other candidates.

A contemporary dancer and passionate about the performing arts, the winner will now represent Haiti at the international competition scheduled for August. The organizers see this victory as a new strong signal for Haitian youth, a few weeks after the international triumph of Abigail Alexandre in France. Beyond the competition, Eloquentia continues to present itself as a space for citizen training where speech becomes a tool of trust, leadership and social commitment.

In a country often marked by crises and uncertainties, these young voices emerging through eloquence offer another image of Haiti: that of a generation capable of transforming words into force, and speech into national representation.
