The Director General of the Haitian National Police (PNH), André Jonas Vladimir Paraison, in an exclusive interview with the media, urged armed gangs to lay down their weapons and surrender voluntarily in order to avoid deadly fighting with law enforcement forces.

The Chief of Police, in this media interview, stated that the HNP now has sufficient operational capacity to locate and neutralize these armed groups, regardless of their area of refuge throughout the territory.

In a firm but conciliatory speech, Vladimir Paraison invited armed individuals to contact the police or to appear in places considered neutral, such as a church, a vodou temple or a press editor. He assured that they would then be taken over and presented to the competent authorities.

This approach, he explained, aims to limit the loss of life among police officers and civilians. The appeal is part of an intensification of gang operations, marking a new phase of the government's strategy to restore security in areas of insecurity.

Vladimir Paraison also warned the inhabitants of areas controlled by armed gangs, calling them to the utmost caution not to end up « in the wrong place at the wrong time « , in a context of bloody police operations that multiply across the metropolitan area of Port-au-Prince.
