Port-au-Prince, August 22, 2025.- As part of efforts to adjust the Multinational Security Support Mission (MSS) in Haiti, American business officer Henry Wooster held a press conference with several Haitian media. He outlined the American administration's commitment to enhancing the effectiveness of the mission by providing it with human and material resources adapted to the gravity of the country's security crisis.
In a message published on account X of the United States Embassy in Haiti, Wooster expressed Washington's desire to make changes to the mission, currently led by Kenya, to guarantee it the resources, staff and authority necessary for its proper functioning.
« We want to ensure that these adjustments, after a year of deployment, are made so that the mission is truly aligned with the challenges it faces. « , specifies the embassy.
Kimberly Penland, acting representative of the United States at the Organization of American States (OAS), had recently mentioned the possibility of withdrawing the leadership of MSS in Kenya. However, the United States recognizes that the Kenyan government « has accomplished absolutely everything requested of him « recalled the embassy.
