Quartier-Morin, January 24, 2026. -In Quartier-Morin, a large shipment of weapons and ammunition, hidden in a container from the United States, was seized Friday, January 23, 2026 by the Haitian National Police forces, during a joint operation between the Bureau de Lutte contre le Trafic des Stupéfiants (BLTS) and the Customs Surveillance Brigade, illustrating the strengthening of the fight against the trafficking of weapons.
The search of the container, conducted at Cap Terminal S.A 2, revealed two rifles, three pistols, 17 chargers of various calibres (9mm, 5.56×45, 7.62×39) and no less than 3,400 cartridges. The weapons, coming from the United States and Turkey, had recognized marks such as Tactical Life LLC, American Tactical, Sar Arms, Sarsilmaz and Springfield Armory, and were hidden in three boxes of cardboard bearing the inscription « 26 Gonaïves « .
An individual named Robins Momprémier, commissioned by the owner of the Kerly Momprémier container, residing in the United States, was arrested on the spot. During his hearing, he indicated that these weapons would belong to Clement Mary Junior Thélusma, already arrested at the end of December 2025 for international trafficking in firearms. Judge Bimps Noël was charged with the legal declaration of the seizure, in accordance with the instructions of the Government Commissioner, Mr. Eno Zéphirin.
This operation illustrates the increased vigilance of the Haitian National Police in the north of the country and marks an important step in the fight against arms trafficking. Cooperation between BLTS and customs has resulted in the neutralization of a cargo that can fuel armed crime, thereby enhancing the security of the population and the traceability of arms imports.
