Presentation of credentials of the new Apostolic Nuncio to the Prime Minister of Haiti

Port-au-Prince, May 27, 2026.- The Prime Minister, Alix Didier Fils-Aimé, received, this Wednesday, May 27, at the Villad Home, the credentials of the Apostolic Nuncio of the Holy See in Haiti, Jude Thaddeus Okolo. The ceremony formalizes the appointment of the Vatican representative to the Haitian authorities.

The ceremony was attended by the Secretary General of the National Palace, Marie Elizabeth Régine Joseph Haddad, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Religious Affairs, Raina Forbin. By this diplomatic act, the representative of the Holy See obtains his official accreditation to the Haitian State, in accordance with established protocol procedures.

On this occasion, the Apostolic Nuncio delivered a message centered on peace, social cohesion and collective hope. He encouraged national actors to strengthen solidarity in order to meet current challenges, while stressing the importance of a climate of stability and shared responsibility.

Originally from Nigeria, Jude Thaddeus Okolo is a career diplomat from the Holy See. Over several decades of service, he has held various positions in papal representations around the world. His diplomatic journey is part of the tradition of the traveling missions of the Holy See, marked by successive assignments in various countries.

This takes place as the Haitian authorities face a national situation marked by security, political and institutional challenges, requiring sustained coordination and dialogue between the actors concerned.
