On the occasion of the National Tourism Day, celebrated this Friday, July 3, 2026 in Pétion-Ville, the Haitian authorities reaffirmed their commitment to reposition tourism as a strategic sector of economic development. This official ceremony brought together government officials, diplomats, tourism operators and representatives of civil society, in a context of persistent security challenges and low international attractiveness.
This edition focused on the theme « Haitian tourism: heritage, investment and territorial recovery « , the meeting highlighted a roadmap focused on the enhancement of cultural heritage, the stimulation of private investment and the revitalization of territories. The authorities stressed the role of the diaspora as a channel for international promotion, while recognizing that security stability remains a prerequisite for any sustainable revival of the sector.
The ceremony concluded with the recognition of several private and sports sector institutions, including the Haitian Football Federation (FHF), the Haitian Tourism Association (ATH) and Sunrise Airways, praised for their contribution to the country's outreach. However, no new concrete measures or precise timetable for implementation have been announced, leaving questions about the effective translation of government commitments.
