A five-year-old girl is among the three victims of the collapse of a wall that occurred on the night of 18 April 2026 in Laboule 12, Petion-Ville commune, following heavy rains. The tragedy also caused several injuries. According to initial information, the collapse occurred while occupants were inside the house. Some victims were extracted from the rubble, while others would still be sought.
The heavy rains in recent days would have contributed to soil degradation, without any formal conclusions yet being reached. Relief was deployed on site to continue the search and assistance operations. An investigation should be initiated to determine the exact circumstances of this collapse.
