Garry Benjamin
Port-au-Prince, May 11, 2026.- Garry Benjamin, representative of the Inifòs political party, confirmed on Monday, May 11, the official withdrawal of its structure from the National Pact for Security and the Organization of Elections. He referred to the lack of political will on the part of the government, the worsening of insecurity and the impossibility of holding credible elections in the current context.
Speaker on the show Panel Magik this Monday, May 11, 2026, Garry Benjamin said that the Inifòs party officially informed Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé of his withdrawal from the National Pact through a correspondence addressed to the Primature on May 7.
According to the political leader, Inifòs had agreed to join this initiative with the aim of supporting the authorities in restoring security and organizing elections in the country. However, after several months of observation, the party claims to have found no concrete progress.
« We had given the Primature team three months to demonstrate its willingness to redress the situation. Unfortunately, after this period, we found a clear lack of political will to hold serious elections. « Garry Benjamin told Panel Magik's microphone.
The representative of Inifòs also considered that the head of government was primarily seeking a form of political legitimacy through the support of the parties that signed the Pact.
« The Prime Minister needed to win the sympathy of political parties in order to strengthen his legitimacy « supported Mr. Benjamin.
The party is also critical of the continued deterioration of the security climate, claiming that armed groups continue to expand in several parts of the country despite the authorities' announcements and the presence of foreign forces.
For Inifòs, the current conditions do not permit credible elections or the restoration of public confidence in political institutions.
Despite this withdrawal, Garry Benjamin assured that his party remains willing to participate in any national dialogue initiative deemed to be « sincere, inclusive and transparent » to promote a secure transition and free elections in Haiti.
