The Collective of 4 December proposes the creation of a Chamber of Control to frame the transition

Port-au-Prince, 16 March 2026.- The Collective of 4 December 2013, supported by several civil society organizations, sent a letter on 16 March to the Acting Prime Minister, Alix Didier Fils-Aimé, proposing the establishment of a Transitional Control Chamber (CCT).

According to the signatories, this body would have the task of accompanying the transitional authorities in their decisions, while ensuring the protection of national interests and the maintenance of the stability necessary for the organisation of free and credible elections.

The Collective recalls that it had already submitted this proposal to the public on 22 January and then directly to the head of government on 10 February. It believes that the establishment of such a monitoring mechanism could also reduce the risks of a possible infringement of national sovereignty in the current political context.

In their correspondence, the organisations also express their concerns about the composition of the new government, which they consider to be dominated by actors from political groupings rather than by competent and independent technocrats from civil society.

The Collective thus insists on the need to establish the Transitional Control Chamber in a transparent framework, in order to strengthen monitoring mechanisms, limit the drifts in the management of power and combat corruption.

Through this initiative, the signatories state that they want to make a patriotic contribution to help the country through this transition period and create the conditions for more credible governance. Finally, they hope that the authorities will respond quickly to what they consider a national emergency.
