The exact nature of the disease that Jorge Messi suffered was never officially revealed by his family. According to Corriere della Sera, his state of health had deteriorated in the weeks prior to his death and he was allegedly the victim of a first discomfort at home before being hospitalized. The Italian daily also referred to neurological examinations, but did not make a precise diagnosis. On 18 June, the Messi family asked the media to exercise responsibility and caution, recalling that only relatives had reliable information about their health.
A few days later, on 22 June, Jorge Messi left the hospital to continue his recovery at home, according to Ge, who quoted Argentine journalist Ángel de Brito. However, there is no reliable source that can accurately establish the date on which her health problems began or her last hospitalization.
Born in Argentina, Jorge Messi was much more than Lionel Messi's father. He played a key role in his son's professional ascent. A former worker in a metallurgical factory and former player in his youth, he had accompanied Lionel from the beginning to Rosario. According to the Associated Press (AP), he had accompanied him to Spain during his trials at FC Barcelona, before becoming his representative and participating in the management of his contracts and commercial interests.
Jorge Messi's influence on his son's career has thus extended far beyond family life. He accompanied him in the main stages of his career, from Rosario to Barcelona, then to Paris Saint-Germain and to Inter Miami. His disappearance constitutes a major personal loss for Lionel Messi and his family, after several weeks of concern about his state of health.
