Port-au-Prince, June 10, 2026.- In a context of continued insecurity and the expansion of armed gangs in several parts of the country, Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé made a visit to the base of the Gangs Repression Force (GRF) in Tabarre on Wednesday, June 10, in order to assess the ongoing security operations.
This visit is part of the follow-up to the Government ' s strategy to strengthen public security and improve coordination of interventions against armed groups. On the spot, the Head of Government met with officials of the National Police of Haiti (PNH) and several actors involved in the security arrangements deployed in the territory.
Discussions focused on the evolution of operations, the challenges of intervention in areas controlled by armed gangs, and the logistical means available to units engaged in the fight against insecurity. The authorities have also examined the coordination mechanisms needed to improve the effectiveness of actions on the ground.
Despite efforts by the government and law enforcement, the security situation remains a concern. Several neighbourhoods in the metropolitan area of Port-au-Prince and other areas of the country continue to be influenced by armed criminal groups, affecting the free movement of citizens, economic activities and access to certain essential services.
The security forces face many challenges, including limited resources, logistical constraints and difficulties in accessing certain territories. These obstacles complicate the planning and execution of operations to restore stability and regain control of areas under gang control.
Through this visit to the GRF base, the Prime Minister intends to monitor closely the evolution of security interventions and evaluate the mechanisms put in place to respond to the current crisis. The fight against armed gangs remains one of the main challenges facing the government, while the population continues to expect concrete results in terms of security and stability throughout the country.
