Haiti-Migration maritime : Washington advises against high-risk crossings

Tabarre, August 13, 2026.- The U.S. Customs and Border Protection Service (CBP) calls on migration candidates not to use clandestine shipping routes at risk of their lives.

In a message from the American Embassy in Haiti, this Thursday, August 13, Commissioner Rodney Scott renews his warning against the dangers of irregular migration by sea.

The U.S. authorities recall that last June, a boat carrying 240 Haitian migrants had been found while in a dangerous situation, with a risk of shipwreck. The passengers were intercepted and then returned to Haiti.

Rodney Scott insists on the risks associated with crossings on precarious boats, while the US authorities continue their interception operations at sea.

The message of the US authorities is unambiguous: no clandestine crossing is worth losing life.
