The Ministry of Public Health and Population (MSPP) chose the city of Jérémie, in the department of Greater Anse, to host, on Sunday 26 April 2026, the national launch of the 24th edition of the Week of Vaccination of the Americas (SVA). Placed under the theme « Your decision makes the difference « This campaign is part of a regional effort supported by the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) to strengthen collective immunization and protect the most vulnerable populations from preventable diseases.
This initiative focuses on children between 0 and 2 years of age as well as pregnant women throughout the department of Greater Anse. However, the health authorities specify that vaccines are available free of charge in all health centres and hospitals throughout the country. The aim is to fill immune gaps to prevent possible epidemics and to preserve the status of elimination of serious diseases, such as measles, in the Americas region.
