Elections: CMC organizes fair and respectful elections

Port-au-Prince, July 27, 2026.- On Monday, July 27, 2026, the Ministry of Culture and Communication (MCC) announced new measures to implement the Electoral Decree. The government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé, is committed to educating citizens, assisting candidates in their administrative processes and monitoring media behaviour to ensure calm and transparent elections.

In order for every Haitian to understand the importance of his vote, a major national awareness programme will be launched. The aim is to explain the functioning of the elections and encourage people to participate actively and calmly.

The National Archives of Haiti will facilitate the lives of candidates throughout the territory. They will be able to obtain their birth certificate more quickly, a document that is mandatory to be able to stand for election.

The Ministry will closely monitor radio and television stations with strict rules:

  • Equal Speaking Time: The state media will give regular broadcasting time to all authorized parties and candidates.
  • No insults or sexism: It is strictly forbidden to denigrate its opponents or to make sexist statements. The debate must remain correct and respectful.
  • Silence before the vote: The media will have to respect the official end of the campaign and will not be able to publish false results or prognosis.

Minister Emmanuel Ménard recalled that the State is doing its utmost to support the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP), which remains the sole responsible for the organisation of votes.
