Kingstown, November 27, 2025.– More than 100,000 voters are called to the polls this Thursday, November 27 through the 15 electoral districts of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. The polling stations opened at 7:00 a.m. and will close at 5:00 p.m. Outgoing Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves is running for a sixth term against a reinvigorated opposition, in a tight election between the Unity Labour Party (ULP) and the New Democratic Party (NDP). Each voice counts for the political future of the country.

Since 2001, Ralph Gonsalves has focused on social continuity and economic stability. Voters must elect the 15 members of the House of Assembly, the country's central legislative body. The party winning the majority of seats will form the government and appoint the next Prime Minister, which could renew Mr Gonsalves for another five years.

The opposition, led by Godwin Friday, promises a political turning point, with the priority of attracting new foreign investment and re-evaluating certain diplomatic orientations. The electoral battle is conducted by constituency, with each seat being able to change the parliamentary majority.

To ensure the transparency of the voting, any manifestation of partisan colours or symbols is prohibited inside and around voting centres. CARICOM provides an electoral observation mission and oversees the counting process.

As a member of the Commonwealth, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines recognized the British king as head of state, represented by a governor general. Its British-inspired parliamentary system entrusts the executive to the Prime Minister and his Cabinet, while legislative power rests with Parliament.

The day promises to be decisive: the turnout and the smooth running of the election will determine whether Ralph Gonsalves will remain in power or whether a new majority will emerge.
