Port-au-Prince, September 5, 2026.- The Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) met on Friday, September 4, with the Group of Eminent Persons (GEP) of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) to review the current electoral process. The exchanges included voter registration, the implementation of the electoral calendar, the operation of the Registration and Voting Centres and the next steps to be taken in Haiti.
The meeting, held at the CEP headquarters in Petion-Ville, took place in a climate that was calm and constructive by the electoral institution.
In his opening remarks, the President of the CEP, Jacques Desrosiers, presented the main steps already taken in the implementation of the electoral calendar. In particular, he referred to the status of registration operations and measures taken to facilitate citizens' access to electoral services.
The President of the CEP also highlighted efforts to raise awareness and mobilize the population. These actions are particularly targeted at young people, women, internally displaced persons and other categories of citizens involved in the process.
For its part, the CARICOM Group of Eminent Persons has expressed its interest in the evolution of the electoral process and hoped that it will succeed in the interest of the Haitian people.
This meeting takes place as the CEP continues its operations for the next elections. The institution reaffirms its commitment to conduct the process in an inclusive, impartial and transparent manner, while emphasizing its independence and democratic responsibility.
