New climate resilience infrastructure inaugurated in Belle-Anse

On Wednesday 8 July, the Ministry of the Environment inaugurated several infrastructures in Belle-Anse, in the South-East Department, as part of the EU-funded AMCC+ and INOVEE projects. Achievements include the Office of Governance and the Herbier of the Lake of Oysters National Natural Park (NNLdH) to support the management of this protected area.

The mission, led by Minister Valéry Fils-Aimé, took place in the presence of the Ambassador of the European Union in Haiti, Hélène Roos, the National Director of the European Development Fund, Charles Jean-Jacques, as well as local authorities. A solar-powered computer room and library were also inaugurated at the Lycée Calixte Numa Rabel, as well as the Communal Marine Fishing Centre, rehabilitated and equipped with a solar-powered cold room.

The managers also presented the results of some of the programme's activities, including the establishment of three beekeeping stations that had enabled 21 charcoal producers to convert to beekeeping. The authorities called for the sustainable management of these infrastructures to ensure their sustainability and support environmental protection initiatives in the municipality.
