Budget 2026-2027: MTPTC sets its investment priorities

 

On Tuesday, August 4, the Minister of Public Works, Transport and Communications (MTPTC), engineer Joseph Almathe Pierre-Louis, chaired a meeting of the Strategic Policy Council (SOC) on the development of the draft budget and the Public Investment Program (PIP) 2026-2027. This meeting brought together the main departments of the Ministry as well as the heads of the autonomous bodies under its supervision, in order to identify the budgetary priorities for the next fiscal year.

Discussions focused on aligning MTPTC projects with national policy, including Haiti's Strategic Development Plan, the Infrastructure Sector Policy and the National Pact of 21 February 2026. The various structures of the Ministry have presented their budget proposals and priority projects, with the aim of directing public investment towards infrastructure, essential services, institutional strengthening, security and support of the electoral process.

At the conclusion of the work, Minister Joseph Almathe Pierre-Louis stated that public resources will be devoted to the interests of the State and the public, while rejecting any use for partisan purposes. He also stressed the importance of supporting projects that could provide concrete responses to the country's priority needs.
