Signing of a Memorandum of Understanding for the 13th edition of the Law Fair

Pétion-Ville, September 20, 2025.- On Friday 19 September, the Office of Patrick Laurent and Associates signed a Memorandum of Understanding at the Montana Hotel with the General Inspectorate of Finance (IGF), the Unit for Combating Corruption (ULCC), the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) and the École Sainte Trinité, in preparation for the 13th edition of the Salon du Droit, scheduled for 8 May 2026. The event also marked the launch of the 5th edition of the Law Fair Prize.

The 13th edition of the Fair of Law is already emerging as one of the major meetings of the legal calendar in Haiti. As part of the preparations, a memorandum of understanding was signed on Friday 19 September between the Cabinet Patrick Laurent and Associates and several partner institutions. This signature seals a multisectoral cooperation aimed at strengthening the quality and scope of the event, presented as the most important legal forum of the French-speaking Caribbean.

The protocol specifies the responsibilities of each partner: the General Inspectorate of Finance (IGF) will ensure scientific coordination, the Holy Trinity School will be in charge of the protocol, while the ULCC will sponsor the 5th edition of the Law Fair Prize.

Dans son intervention, Me Patrick Laurent, Directeur de Cabinet Patrick Laurent et Associés, a souligné que le Salon du Droit est « le plus grand événement juridique d’Haïti, le premier de la Caraïbe francophone et le deuxième en Amérique francophone après le Barreau du Canada « . Il a rendu hommage aux médias qui accompagnent l’initiative « sans un sou « .

De son côté, le parrain du prix, Me Jacques Hans Ludwig Joseph, a salué le retour de l’ULCC et félicité l’équipe organisatrice pour sa compétence. Pour Me Pierrier Olivil, président de la commission, le Salon du Droit est avant tout « un forum d’idées et un lieu de formation pour la jeunesse « .

Le Révérend Père Ricot Géffrard a insisté sur la promotion du civisme et de la conscience citoyenne, tandis que le DG du MEF, Jean Bouco Jean Jacques, a rappelé que « la transparence et l’intégrité sont les fondements de la confiance entre l’État et les citoyens « . Enfin, Me Josué Beaubrun, DG de Juriste-Expert, s’est dit honoré d’assister à « un événement d’une telle portée « .

The signing of this Memorandum of Understanding confirms the willingness of partner institutions to work in a spirit of collaboration and rigour to make the Law Fair a space for reflection, training and opportunities. Set for May 8, 2026, the 13th edition already announces as an essential event for the Haitian and regional legal world.
