On Friday, July 31, 2026, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the State University of Haiti (UEH) signed a Memorandum of Understanding to improve access to mental health services and psychosocial support for internally displaced persons, particularly in the metropolitan area of Port-au-Prince.
This partnership includes community support provided by psychologists, social workers and UEH-trained students to help people affected by the psychological consequences of forced displacement and strengthen their resilience.
Through this initiative, UNDP and UEH intend to support the most vulnerable populations while strengthening national mental health capacities with a view to sustainable recovery.
