Death of Stéphora: His mother breaks silence and demands truth and justice

Dominican Republic, 1st December 2025.- Stéphora Joseph, brilliant student of Leonardo Da Vinci College, died on 14 November in the Dominican Republic on a school trip whose circumstances remain obscure. His mother, Lovelie Joseph, claims that she did not receive any explanation from the institution, while the Dominican authorities confirmed the death on the spot. Between shock, anger and supplication, she denounces the opacity surrounding the drama and demands the disclosure of surveillance images, always refused.

An impossible mourning in the face of silence

On ne me donne aucune explication. «

For the time being, Leonardo Da Vinci School has still not publicly reported on the circumstances of the tragedy.

Between opacity of the establishment, lack of clear relationship and denial of access to images, the Joseph family requires a thorough investigation. The death of Stéphora, which occurred in neighbouring territory during an organised school activity, raises serious questions about the responsibility of the school and the management of the incident.

This drama also revives the debate on the supervision of school excursions, crisis communication and protection of Haitian students living in the Dominican Republic.
