Port-au-Prince, August 7, 2025.- At an installation ceremony held at the Villa d In the face of assistance composed of high dignitaries, he promised to act decisively to revive the democratic process, disarm armed groups and defend the interests of the Haitian nation.

The Transitional Presidential Council (CPT) changed its captain this Thursday at an official ceremony at Villa d'Accommodation. Laurent Saint-Cyr, from the private sector, succeeded Fritz Alphonse Jean in coordinating the Council. In front of a section of political, diplomatic and military figures, the new coordinator undertook to approach this mission with humility and a profound patriotic sense.

In his speech, Mr. Saint-Cyr clearly set the tone: « The time is not for good speech, but for action. » It had promised concrete measures to strengthen democracy, support law enforcement and engage in a credible disarmament process, including reorienting child soldiers recruited into armed groups.

Political dialogue and electoral revival

The new coordinator also stressed the importance of inclusive dialogue. He announced his intention to consult with former presidents and former prime ministers to lay the groundwork for a viable electoral path. This dialogue, in his view, is essential to bring the country out of the institutional impasse.

Addressing the Prime Minister directly, Laurent Saint-Cyr urged him to step up government actions « Without fear, without pressure « for the most vulnerable. He also stressed the urgency of reviving the national economy by implementing job creation projects.

Aware of the harmful role of misinformation in the current crisis, Mr. Saint-Cyr called for a free, responsible and honest press, saying that « misinformation is a danger for society and for future elections « .

For his part, the outgoing coordinator, Fritz Alphonse Jean, praised the work done under his coordination, particularly in the fight against insecurity. He also announced that, for the first time, the CPT will officially mark the historic ceremony of the Cayman Woods on the occasion of its 234th anniversary next week.

The ceremony was attended by other Councillor-Presidents, members of the Government, the President of the Supreme Council of the Judiciary, the Director General of the PNH, senior military officers, general directors, members of the private sector and the diplomatic corps.

Laurent Saint-Cyr inherits a high-voltage post, but claims to want to carry the CPT boat to the port of democratic stability, with determination and spirit of national service.
