Beijing, March 15, 2026.- China continues to increase its investment in scientific research. For the year 2026, Beijing announced a budget of approximately €54 billion for science and technology, with the aim of accelerating innovation and consolidating its position in global technological competition.

The Chinese government revealed in early March that the central budget for science and technology will reach 426 billion yuan in 2026. This increase is part of a strategic plan to support research and development in several key areas.

Priority areas include artificial intelligence, semiconductors, biotechnology and energy technologies. These investments are aimed in particular at strengthening China's technological independence from restrictions imposed by certain Western countries.

With this strategy, Beijing hopes to consolidate its position among the major scientific and technological powers by 2030, while stimulating industrial innovation and the competitiveness of its companies in the international market.
