Haiti: the project « Fanm Flanm » celebrates women's creation through a new album

The project « Fanm Flanm « , worn by artist Kemissa Trecile (Au Top Kemissa), was officially presented at her restitution ceremony on Friday, July 31, 2026. Supported by the UNESCO Emergency Heritage Fund, this initiative brought together Haitian artists and professionals for several months around a collective creation designed to highlight women's voices, backgrounds and experiences in a context marked by the crisis in the country.

Launched on 12 May 2026 with the first studio recording sessions, the project resulted in the production of an album of ten tracks combining rap, konpa, amapiano and rabòday. Songs include resilience, self-confidence, dignity, human relations and women's empowerment. They also offer a showcase to Haitian singers, rappers, musicians and producers from various artistic backgrounds.

Beyond its musical reach, « Fanm Flanm » promotes culture as a tool for expression, transmission and social cohesion. Through this restitution, the partners of the project – UNESCO, the Ministry of Culture and Communication (MCC), the Ministry of National Education and Vocational Training (MENFP), as well as the embassies of France and Canada in Haiti – have renewed their commitment to women's artistic creation and the development of the Haitian cultural sector, despite the challenges the country continues to face.
