Washington, June 27, 2025.- This Friday, the American Secretary of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem, announced the end of the Temporary Protection Status (TPS) granted to Haitian nationals. It invited the beneficiaries of this status to prepare to return to their country, considering that the situation in Haiti has improved sufficiently.
Ironically, this statement comes as the US authorities continue to urge their own citizens to leave Haiti immediately, because of the continuing insecurity.
« The environmental situation in Haiti has stabilized sufficiently to allow a safe return of Haitian citizens. We encourage them to use departmental resources to organize their return, including through the CBP Home app « , said the US authorities.
