Port-au-Prince, June 18, 2026.- The Court of Cassation of the Republic has taken another step in the evacuation of pending cases in the Chamber of the Council. At a hearing held on Wednesday, 17 June 2026, the President of the Court of Cassation and the judges issued eight new judgments mainly on disciplinary disputes involving lawyers and their respective disciplinary boards. These decisions are in addition to the five judgments already delivered the previous week.

The cases examined included Mr. Claudy Gassant, Mr. Ronald Joseph Guteau, Mr. Gladys Legros, Mr. Françoise Morailles, as well as several other legal professionals in dispute with disciplinary boards of the Bars of Port-au-Prince, Gonaïves, Jacmel, Cap-Haitien, Mirebalais and Croix-des-Bouquets.

A total of eight cases were evacuated during this hearing in the Council Chamber, demonstrating the will of the judiciary to reduce the backlog by the end of the judicial year 2025-2026.

According to information provided by the Court of Cassation on 18 June, the judges continue their efforts to empty their case before the opening of the judicial vacancy. This approach is part of a dynamic of accelerating the processing of cases and enhancing the efficiency of the highest court in the country.

With thirteen judgments delivered in two weeks, the Court of Cassation intends to close the judicial exercise 2025-2026 on a note marked by an intensification of its judicial activities.
