Port-au-Prince, February 13, 2026.- On Radio Magik 9 this Friday, February 13, the Secretary of State for Communication, Bendgy Tilias, announced that the government is opting for a decentralized national carnival. This decision aims to reduce public spending while maintaining the carnival tradition through the municipalities.

The government abandons the model of the centralized national carnival, established under the presidency of Michel-Joseph Martelly, deemed too expensive. According to Bendgy Tilias, the current economic and security environment requires more rational choices in the use of public funds.

The Ministry of Culture now grants grants to municipalities to organize their own festivities. Several cities, including Fort-Liberté, Jacmel, Cap-Haitien and Les Cayes, receive support according to their carnival traditions.

A coordination committee has been set up to support municipalities and ensure better management of resources. The Secretary of State assures that this new formula will preserve tradition while controlling spending.
