Marchand Dessalines, July 18, 2025.- Contrary to rumours circulating after the armed attack by gang members « Kokorat San Ras » In Marchand Dessalines, on Thursday 17 July 2025, Mayor Dunord Cileus formally denied the disappearance of police officers. It confirms that no loss of life or injury is to be deplored, both in the ranks of the National Police and among the civilian population. However, the commissariat of the commune and two vehicles were set on fire by the attackers.
Dans une déclaration publique le jeudi 17 juillet, l’édile de Marchand Dessalines, Dunord Cileus, a tenu à rétablir la vérité concernant les rumeurs alarmantes ayant circulé dans les médias et sur les réseaux sociaux. Selon ces rumeurs, deux policiers auraient été portés disparus à la suite d’une attaque violente menée par des individus lourdement armés, identifiés comme membres du gang « Kokorat San Ras « .
Le maire a démenti catégoriquement ces informations, assurant que « tous les policiers affectés au Commissariat de Marchand Dessalines sont sains et saufs « . Il a précisé qu’aucun élément des forces de l’ordre n’a été enlevé ni blessé durant cette attaque.
However, the incident caused considerable material damage. The attackers had time to set fire to the commissariat. Two vehicles were also set on fire: one belonging to the Police Institution and the other, of a private nature, stationed near the targeted building.
« Il n’y a eu aucune perte en vies humaines, ni dans les rangs de la population ni du côté des policiers « , a insisté Dunord Cileus, tout en appelant au calme et à la vigilance.
Local authorities claim to work with the Haitian National Police (HNP) to strengthen security in the commune and avoid further assaults. The Mayor also urged citizens not to give in to panic or misinformation, and to show solidarity in these moments of instability.
