Port-au-Prince, May 16, 2026.- On the occasion of a tribute ceremony organized on Friday, May 15, 2026 at the Karibe Hotel, Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé and Minister of National Education Vijonet ppDemero reaffirmed the strategic importance of teachers in the future of Haiti. The authorities also presented the broad guidelines for educational reform focusing on citizenship, digital education, mental health and social peace.
Organized in the presence of members of the government, the diplomatic corps, technical and financial partners, teachers' unions and educational actors, the ceremony highlighted the fundamental role of educators in the training of future generations. In his speech, Minister Vijonet Demero praised the resilience of the faculty while recalling the ministry's alignment with the government's four priorities: security, good governance, economic recovery and elections.
Speaking in Creole, the holder of the MENFP insisted on the central place of teachers in Haitian society: « Pa gen lekòl san anseyan. Pa gen peyi san fòmatè, san edikatè. » He also announced the continuation of a reform of the education system adapted to the realities and needs of the country.
For his part, Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé paid tribute to the dedication of teachers, whom he considered essential actors in the transmission of the values of peace, justice and social cohesion. Despite the security and institutional challenges facing the country, he called on the population not to give in to discouragement.
The Head of Government presented the four main areas of his educational vision: citizenship, financial education, digital education, and mental health and peace. It also reaffirmed the executive's commitment to restore state authority throughout the country and to hold free, transparent and democratic elections.
