The politician André Michel
Port-au-Prince, March 13, 2026.- In an interview granted this Friday, March 13, at Radio Magik 9, André Michel confirmed that 320 political parties have already registered with the Provisional Electoral Council for the next elections. He believes that such participation is a successful test of legitimacy for the electoral institution and warns against any attempt to replace certain councillors, an approach which he believes could delay the electoral process.
The process of registering political parties for the upcoming elections continues to generate political reactions. Invited this Friday on Radio Magik 9, André Michel indicated that 320 political parties have already filed their file with the Provisional Electoral Council.
For the lawyer and political leader, this figure is a positive signal for the credibility of the electoral process. According to him, the strong mobilization of the parties demonstrates that the CEP enjoys a form of recognition and legitimacy in the organisation of future elections.
However, André Michel expressed his opposition to the plan of some political parties close to power to replace some members of the electoral council. He claims that, since the signing of the political pact, some groups, whose names he did not reveal, have expressed their unease at the presence of some electoral advisers.
In his view, such an initiative could have a negative impact on the credibility of the process. « Changing some electoral advisers now would mean delaying the electoral process, extending the term of office of the incumbent and creating a climate of suspicion around the CEP « he warned.
Faced with this situation, André Michel calls on political actors to show political reason and maturity in order to preserve the stability of the electoral process and guarantee the organisation of the next elections within a reasonable time.
